Our lake venues all have locked car parks, toilets during the warmer months and properly constructed swims.

Doddinghurst Fishery

This is a mature and well established lake just under an acre in size with 20 pegs. Stream fed, it is believed to form part of the source of the River Wid and as such has a constant flow of fresh water. It was originally dug as a water supply for a nearby farm and varies in depth from around 3 feet at the top end of the lake to over 10 feet at the bottom end. Most of the pegs drop off quickly in the margins and have a good depth close in. There are plenty of overhanging trees and brambles providing close in cover for the fish.

The main species are Roach, Rudd, Skimmer Bream, Carp and Perch (some of which go over 2 lbs), with the odd tench making a welcome appearance. There are also some good crucians, in excess of a pound and a half as well as some surprise goldfish and a few big Koi carp.

Carp have been caught in the low to mid twenties and there are plenty of fish in the 3 to 9lb bracket as well as doubles to be had. Because the lake is deep these carp are often seen basking and can be caught on surface baits. Beware though, the carp in this lake fight very hard and are very good at heading for cover!

Skimmers and bream are caught up to 2lb and the lake benefitted from a stocking of 3,500 small skimmers in 2013, which will ensure quality fishing in the future years. A stocking of 1000 small carp was also been made to keep them company. These carp have already grown very quickly and good nets of these can be amassed in a fairly short time. Maggots over pellets works well and in the warmer months good weights of these new fish and the bigger residents can be caught shallow on pellets; pole or waggler work well.Roach, Rudd and Perch are plentiful and winter catches of silver fish into double figures can be caught both pleasure fishing and in matches. There are some good quality Roach that will often respond to hemp and caster tactics.

Lots of different methods can be used on the lake, the carp will respond to a variety of tactics from conventional specimen tactics to float fishing or feeder fishing. Pellets or fishmeal ground baits are reliable baits in the warmer weather and the margins will usually produce throughout the day as small groups of fish move in and out. Evening fishing  in the margins can  can be very productive in the summer. Lots of other baits such as meat, corn and bread will also work as well as maggots in the colder months.

The silver fish will respond to float fishing, on the pole or rod and plenty of fish can be caught close in, from 3 to 6m from the bank. Regular loose feeding maggots will get plenty of bites from small fish while the skimmers will often respond to pellets. Be aware that this is also likely to bring in some carp too! The Roach and Rudd love to come shallow in the warmer months so be ready to change depths to follow them. The lake is ideal for youngsters learning to fish as plenty of silvers can be caught very close in due to the depth. 

The lake benefited from an Angling Trust Grant a few years ago to create accessible swims for disabled anglers. These are in or near the car park and also suitable for youngsters. 

Permits for night fishing are available for this lake.

Mores Lane Fishery Coxtie Green

This club fishery consists of two lakes, the smaller one has around 10 fishable swims while the larger lake has around 40 pegs. Both are mature lakes surrounded by trees with lily pads and weed beds.

Small Lake

This is deeper than the large lake and contains a large head of carp ,particularly for it's size, roach, some big perch and bream. Tench to 4lb have also been caught. The carp in this lake are generally larger than those in the smaller lake and run into double figures.

Large Lake

This lake is stocked with a wide variety of fish and is an ideal place for a pleasure session to remind you what catching plenty of fish is like or to take youngsters to get them to fall in love with fishing and maintain an interest. The lake has a very good head of bream and roach, with plenty of perch, lots of which are now two pounds and over. There are also plenty of carp which run to close to double figures, although most will be in the 3 to 5lb bracket. It was also restocked with silver fish in 2020. 

Pleasure catches on this lake can easily exceed 50 pounds and silver fish weights of over 40 pounds have been caught in the winter when the bream are on the feed. There are plenty of roach in the 8oz to 1lb bracket, skimmer bream average around a pound and a half with some bigger fish and the crucians/brown goldfish average around a pound and a half and can be caught in large numbers.

All methods will work with short range float fishing being a favourite. Pellets, corn, maggots etc. all have their day but you will always catch a wide variety and plenty of fish with a loose feeding approach using maggots or casters.

This is a great fishery offering plenty of bites and plenty of good quality fish for everyone. A large car park via a secluded access road, Nice and quiet and private.
