Hi

Drove all the way down to Braintree from Romford to fish our Shalford lakes (as I have done for two years ) this weekend and found all the car park and lakes have had a good clear out.

I was then knocked for six when I noticed the fishery has been taken over by the Bilericay District Anglers Association who informed me that the waters was sold for £500

I have not seen any mention of this in the yearly letter sent out regarding membership fees by the club. We also still have pictures of the water on this website???. If I had known I wouldn’t have re-joined.

So then I thought I would go and have a look at the Henny and Stour at Bures lakes where I was greeted by a very angry neighbour at Stour who said he was fed up with members of our club disrespecting the area. He said that anglers were urinating up the trees and leaving rubbish everywhere... I only went there to see what it was like and got an earful.......!!! What a day

Very disappointed it seems the club is getting smaller but the fees stay the same

Ps I have been a member for over eight years

Colin, thank you for raising this to our attention.

With regards to Shalford this has been responded to via your previous blog post.

The issue of our neighbours at Stour is new information to us.  As of our last meeting no correspondence to this affect was raised.

Again I would suggest that you present this at our next General Meeting if possible so that the Committee can discuss these concerns.

We need to be advised exactly where on the Stour the neighbour's complaint was raised. Colin's message mentions both Henny and Bures (Bures lakes??). I suspect that local 'poachers' may be the culprits, as the Stour is hardly fished by EPH&DAS members.

I tottally agree. It should have been mentioned in the renewal letter. Also at Bures I was told about the problems there with our club by a resident who also took my photo. I was not fishing at the time. Apprentley the police and the local council have been informed about our club. That same day I visited the river at Henny and on the gate now there are TWO padlocks and a sign that says private for acces phone a mobile number, which when rung there is no answer. I do not see how the club do not know of this when were the waters last visited and also to save money would it not have been better to let the river stretches go and keep the lakes perhaps this should have been put to the members after all its OUR money the pays for the waters.
